Fun and free — a perfect combo when speaking of activities to do in one of the largest cities of Russia. Undoubtedly, Saint Petersburg offers a great range of memorable and entertaining activities. Visit museums on free admission days
You can visit the State Hermitage Museum, Kunstkamera, Zoological Museum, Imperial Porcelain Museum every 3rd Thursday of the month with no fee. Central Naval Museum has open doors for all visitors every last Wednesday of the month, while Museum of History of Religion can be visited with no fee every first Monday of the month.
Relax in parks and gardens
There are places like Summer garden, Field of Mars, Tavrichesky ang Alexandrovsky gardens, park of the 300th anniversary of St Petersburg and many other open areas where you can enjoy a walk and relax on a nice day. Some places might be closed in winter, but you can see them in full glory during the summertime.
Walk along Nevsky prospekt
The central street is full of popular sights and attractions to view, such as Kazan Cathedral, Gostiny Dvor, Stroganov Palace, Zinger House. You are recommended to walk along the Nevsky Prospekt both in the daytime and in the evening, as the atmosphere varies a lot.
Explore the underground
St Petersburg metro is the deepest in the world, as well as the most beautiful. The stations were built like open museums to the public. You can learn more about them during a private tour or just explore them on your own!
Enjoy the view at the Spit of Vasilievsky island
The powerful and magnificent landscape of the Strelka attracts city residents and guests. It was actually one of the most favourite landmarks of Peter the Great, so come watch it yourself.
